I have edited out the biographical information and cleaned up the sound as best I could. This novel was the basic for the 1956 movie of the same title.

wow, thanks for all your hard work! listened to the first couple of minutes — was surprised to hear how good the reader was (a lot of readers for older books are so bad the experience is ruined).
