The Doctor returns to Vortis, where he hears a voice calling through his radio to warn Earth about the Zarbi Supremo.

Investigating further, he finds a human boy, Gordon Hamilton, and his unconscious father. Gordon tells the Doctor that the other six crew members are exploring nearby spaceships on the planet’s surface - ships that they believe the inhabitants of Vortis are planning to use for an invasion of the Earth …

The Lair of Zarbi Supremo was originally published as a short story in the World Distributors Doctor Who Annual 1966. Written by Script Editor David Whitaker, it features the Zarbi and Menoptera from the 1964 serial The Web Planet. This audio version, read by one of its stars, William Russell, was released as an extra on the 2006 DVD release of The Web Planet.
