Saki always seems to hit his best when he has a challenging title: The Wolves of Cernogratz is among his best tales, so are Filboid Studge and Sredni Vashtar.
Cerny of course is Czech for Black, and Gratz is German for Citadel; but you can’t put them together quite that way. A place name which is almost predictable, but somehow just wrong: pretty much what Saki was best at, and where Europe was between 1910 and 1914.
