When I’m lucky enough to be in Prague, one of my favorite timewasters is to sit in the House of the Black Madonna and think about what sort of novels Franz Kafka might have given us if he had survived the War.
The Third Man, I think, gives us a pretty fair idea. (As do the works of Agota Kristof).
